About us

At Barnum we don't teach leadership.
We create environments, circumstances and
experiences where people discover and
develop their leadership abilities.

THE HISTORY BEHIND OUR VISION AND "THE POWER OF ONE"

Changes come from the power of many,
but only when the many come together to form that which is invincible...
The Power of One
Bryce Courtenay, in his novel The Power of One

Bryce Courtenay relates the story of a young English boy in South Africa just prior to World War II and following the Boer War. The hero of the story grew to greatness despite being orphaned in an extremely hostile environment. As a young man he dramatically impacted the social and political history of South Africa and apartheid.

The epilogue of the compelling film based upon the novel is quoted above. In the current era of change management we believe that this concept is true for individuals, groups of individuals (or teams), entire organizations and even society at large. By understanding and managing our personal process it is possible to realize greatly enhanced productivity and effectiveness.  Our vision builds on the Power of One

MEET OUR DEDICATED STAFF
  • Words of Wisdom

A hundred years from now the methods, systems or procedures you follow in your department may not matter immeasurably, but the kind of world you leave behind will make a difference.

The good supervisor leads and "conducts" a willing group of followers much as a maestro conducts or leads a group of musicians. They follow out of an obvious need for direction and a respect for the competence of the person waving the baton.

In order to get people to desire to do the things you want them to do, it is necessary first to accept them as full-fledged members of the human race, and to have the philosophical wisdom to like people the way they are. The next principle is to understand more about human nature, and work with it and through it instead of against it.
